Something we hear quite a fair bit at Christmas.

Looking up the word Christmas Carol at the Wikipedia website. I found out that a Christmas carol is also called a Noel, and are songs which the lyrics of this songs are either Christmas themed. Or the winter season of the northern hemisphere in general. In Australia we don't have our winter at this time of year.

The history of these songs are said to date back to the middle ages. During this period the songs were sometimes sung to celebrate such things as a great harvest as well as just christmas.

Over the centuries the Christmas carol started to be sung in churches at christmas time. The Christmas carol started to decline during the period of Reformation of the churches. It wasn't until the 19th century did the popularity of the Christmas carol start to pick up again.

Here is a list of some Christmas Carols.

The First Noel.

Good King Wenceslas.

I Saw Three Ships.

Hark The Herald Angels Sing.

God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.

Silent Night.

Away in A Manger.

Jingle Bells.

The Little Drummer Boy.

It's a matter of trust.....

and knowing the person you are speaking to over the Internet in real life. That's what my Dad said when my Dad, Nan and I was discussing the Internet.

What brought us onto the subject in the first place, was a story on A Current Affair about a woman who had been ripped off by someone who was on one of those dating networks.

The woman actually thought she was in a relationship with this man, who in fact was one of those con artist from Nigeria, and a well known con artist too. My Dad made the statement how can it be a relationship if you have never met them in person. It made me think for a moment, when I go onto forums, and I do go on a lot.

There are some nice people on these forums, but I wouldn't view it as having a relationship of any sort with them, because I have never met them. It doesn't stop me from being friendly to them though, but that's not to say I will trust them.

Then there are some real nasty people an these forums, that their sole purpose is to cause as much trouble as possible on them. Their sole purpose is to try and wind up people in order to cause trouble. Waste of space, as I tend to ignore them. It's quite amusing and sad to see them try to wind me up, and then fail at it.

Oh well that's their problem.

Batman 1966 TV Show Part Four.

This felonious feathered criminal known as The Penguin was played by Burgess Meredith. The Joker was played brilliantly by Cesar Romero, who for a man in his 60's, played this character with the energy of someone younger than in his 60's.

The Joker like The Riddler loved to laugh, when he was up to something very naughty. Or when he had Batman and Robin caught in one of his traps. The Joker didn't find it so funny when the joke was on him, and Batman and Robin had the last laugh.

Some of the stuff The Joker used as weapons were his electric hand buzzers, that gave his victims quite a shock, when they shook The Jokers hand. Other weapons were his exploding confetti, and his squirting flower on his jacket, that instead of squirting water, knock out gas would come out. The best Joker episodes on the show were the following episodes.

The Joker Is Wild/ Batman Is Riled.

The Joker Goes To School/ He Meets His Match The Grisly Ghoul.

The Joker Trumps An Ace/ Batman Sets The Pace.

The Impractical Joker/ Joker's Provokers.

The Zodiac Crimes/ The Jokers Hard Times/ The Penguin Declines.

Batman 1966 TV Show Part Two.

Here is the second part of my Batman 1966 TV Show posts on this site. After Catwoman, The Riddler was my second favourite villain in the show. The Riddler was absolutely bloody crackers, and was brilliantly played by the late Frank Gorshin. Who in my opinion played the best Riddler ever, much better than the Jim Carey version in the movies. The Riddler had the most manic laugh on the show, and use the most basic of tools as weapons against Batman and Robin. For example such things as super glue and candle wax that blew up vaults. He also liked to make cream pies with sleeping gas in them. Oh and how The Riddler loved to confuse everyone with his riddles, which he used to go with his various crimes.

Sadly it was his addiction to riddles, that always proved to be The Riddler's downfall against Batman and Robin. The Riddler is the only villain in the show, to have more than one standard uniform, that identified the villain. He had a uniform which was a green suit with question marks on it, with a bowler hat with a single question mark.

Which is pictured up the top left hand side of this post. Then he had a green jumpsuit with a big black question mark on it, and a pinkish mask and belt to go with it. As is pictured below on the right hand side of this post. The Riddler was also played for two episodes in season two by John Astin, who was Gomez Addams in the Adams Family TV show in the sixties. The best Riddler episodes on Batman TV Show were the following. The Riddler was also the first villain in the first two episodes of Batman in 1966.

Hi Diddle Diddle/ Smack In The Middle.

A Riddle A Day Keeps The Riddler Away/ When The Rats Away The Mice Will Play.

The Ring Of Wax/ Give Them The Axe.

Batman 1966 TV Show Part One.

I have a confession to make on here, I'm a fan of the Batman TV show from the sixties. You know the one that had Adam West play Batman, and Burt Ward play Robin. Well the highlights for me in that show were the actors that played the four main villains in the show. The Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler and The Penguin. The Catwoman out of the four main villains on the show was my favourite.

I prefer Julie Newmar's version of the feline fatal the best. Eartha Kitt was good, and played the part really well, but I just loved Julie's versionn of Catwoman more. The way she would tease Adam West's Batman was priceless.

Only Robin seemed not to be taken in by her female charms, maybe that was one of the reason's Julie's Catwoman character on the show didn't like Robin much. The other reason was that Catwoman wanted to be Batman's companion, but Robin was his partner in fighting crime. Or it could be that the name Robin means a type of bird, and well Catwoman is well a cat.

Then there was Eartha Kitt's Catwoman, she didn't target Robin, nor flirt with Batman. That Catwoman had a strong dislike to Batgirl. The most important thing was that Catwoman unlike her three male villains, didn't get her butt kicked by Batman or Robin. Catwoman's best episodes on the show were

The Purr-fect Crime/ Better Luck Next Time.

Hot Off The Griddle/ The Cat And The Fiddle.

The Cat's Meow/ The Bats Kow Tow.

That Darn Catwoman/ Scat, Darn Catwoman.

Catwoman Goes To College/ Batman Displays His Knowledge.

Tis the silly season.

No I'm not talking about Christmas, I'm talking about the end of all the regular TV shows that are shown on non cable channels. In Australia we call the period where the main stations pull off all their main local TV shows off the air, and replace them with American shows that's either didn't do too well in the US. Or we end up falling in love with the show, only to have the channels pull them off, and not see them till next silly season.

I do not like the silly season personally, because the shows the put on tend to be boring, or I miss my normal shows that I do enjoy watching. Shows such as Spicks and Specks, All Saints etc.

To get through the silly season I tend to either go and walk to the video store to get some DVDs or watch the cricket on TV. I'm a big fan of the cricket, although Australia's dominance of the game is a bit of a turn off. The cable channels on Foxtel are alright, but the problem with Foxtel is they don't refresh their shows very often.

Maybe I should just switch the TV off and listen to music instead. Although watching the Chasers spin on the election we have just had, makes me think that they should of done the actual election coverage on the night of the election.

Watch this space.

First post for this new place that is being set up.
